Meetings

Kenya Embroiderer’s Guild meetings are held every second Thursday of the month at Simba Union, Next To Premier Academy, Forest Rd, Nairobi, Kenya.

Doors open at 9.30am, meeting starts at 10.00am and generally ends by lunch time.

Members pay Ksh 50/- and non-members pay Ksh 150/- at the door.

At each meeting we aim to have a technique taught, or a visitor give a talk on a subject relevant to  needle craft.   A kit, with detailed instructions, materials, threads and sometimes needles, is prepared for the subject being introduced, which can be purchased for a minimal cost so that members can immediately apply their new knowledge.  Good selections of kits for past workshops are available and these have proved popular with new members.

There have been workshops on a large variety of subjects such as Florentine work, Hardanger, tapestry, Golden thread, Smocking etc with planned future workshops on ribbon embroidery, gold work etc.  We have had talks on framing your work, washing your work, care and storage of your threads etc.  Some subjects, if very popular, are re-visited both for beginners and advanced techniques.

Guest are most welcome.

Hello! My name is Janet Rojas and I was in the meeting in February for the first time. Unfortunately I could not attend the meeting of 8 March and April because of travel I can not participate either. I have with me a book from the library and I would like to deliver it. What can I do? My email is janeth.rojas @ gmail.com
